Program Description
The objective of the Industrial Design & Drafting program is to provide students with fundamental and hands on industrial and design skills consistent with the demand for entry level industrial design careers in business, government and industry.
Work Places
Graduates of this program can expect to attain entry-level positions at industrial offices, government offices and commercial development firms.
Professional Preparation
Students gain hands-on skills in developing the concepts for manufactured products. The will be able to sketch out ideas or create blueprints, use computer software to develop virtual models of different designs and examine materials and production costs to determine manufacturing requirements. Industrial designers consider the function, aesthetics, production costs, and the usability of products when developing new product concepts.
Students will also be able to present designs and demonstrate prototypes to clients for approval. Overall, they combine art, business, and engineering to make products that people use every day.
