EMPHASIS IN DATABASE SYSTEM MANAGEMENT


Program Length

This program offers 39 semester credit hours.

Program Description

The database system management program offers an introduction a fundamental overview of the values, concepts, principles, skills and techniques of modern database management systems and of database business application system development. It introduces the relational database model and terminology as well as the concepts of data communication and networking.

Work Places

Work places include businesses in the public and private sectors, including for profit and not for profit organizations. The specific duties as entry level Database System Manager, a person responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance and repair of an organization’s database, will often vary from office to office due to office size, location, and specialty.

Professional Preparation

Specific program objectives are designed to provide graduates with an understanding of standard methods of filing records. The graduate of this program will have learned a fundamental overview of the values, concepts, principles, skills and techniques of modern database management systems and of database business application system development. The program offers an introduction to data communication and networking where topics such as telecommunication standards, protocols, equipment, network topologies, communication are discussed.
