Program Description
The information assurance program supports those who wish to acquire or improve information security knowledge in response to the national imperative for maintaining the security of the technology and information infrastructure of government and industry. Students gain specific skills and are instructed in areas of policy formation, needs assessment, security applications, and disaster prevention and recovery.
Work Places
Work places include businesses in the public and private sectors, including for profit and not for profit organizations. The specific duties of an entry level Information Assurance Manager, person managing risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data and the systems and processes used for those purposes, will often vary from office to office due to office size, location, and specialty.
Professional Preparation
Specific program objectives are designed to provide graduates with an understanding of data communication and networking where topics such as telecommunication standards, protocols, equipment, network topologies, communication are discussed. This program also provide learner with a comprehensive introduction to security issues, problems, and solutions and cover topics such as design techniques, access controls, cryptography, encryption, and firewalls. This program also prepares students to deal with network security issues and administration.
